The Dock is comforting. But it slows me down.
I gave myself one challenge: Hide the Dock for a week. No mouse-based app launching allowed.
The Setup
Mapped 6 core apps with Assignee:
- Ctrl + Tab, 1 → VSCode
- Ctrl + Tab, 2 → Terminal
- Ctrl + Tab, 3 → Slack
- Ctrl + Tab, 4 → Notion
- Ctrl + Tab, 5 → Calendar
- Ctrl + Tab, 6 → Preview
The Result
- App launches became instant
- My eyes stayed on my work
- I stopped wasting time cycling apps
Final Thought
Try hiding your Dock for one day. You might never unhide it again.
